Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 June 2026
The short version: you snap your fridge, we find dinners. Your photo is used to do that and nothing else. We don't store your photos on our servers, we don't require an account, and we don't track you across other apps or sell your data.
Who we are
Fridgit ("Fridgit," "we," "us") is an app that looks at a photo of your fridge or pantry and suggests meals you can make. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
What we handle, and why
- Fridge / pantry photos. When you scan, your photo is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our backend, which passes it to OpenAI to identify the food items in it. We use only those detected ingredient names to look up recipes. Your photo is processed in the moment to generate your results and is not stored on our servers.
- Diet preferences. If you set preferences (e.g. vegetarian, halal, allergies), they're sent with your scan so results respect them. They aren't tied to your identity.
- Detected ingredients. The list of foods found in your photo is sent to Spoonacular to find matching recipes and their photos.
- On‑device data. Your scan history, saved recipes, settings, and a small in‑app analytics buffer are stored only on your device. We don't receive them. Deleting the app removes them.
- Purchases. Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your card or payment details — only whether your subscription is active.
What we don't do
- No account, name, email, or login is required to scan.
- No cross‑app or cross‑site tracking, no advertising identifiers, no ad networks.
- No third‑party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- We never sell or rent your information.
Service providers
We rely on a few trusted providers strictly to make the app work. They process data on our behalf, not for their own purposes:
- OpenAI — identifies food items in your photo. Data sent through OpenAI's API is not used to train its models.
- Spoonacular — returns recipes and food photos for the detected ingredients.
- Supabase — hosts the backend that routes your scan between those services.
- Apple — processes subscriptions and payments.
Data retention
Photos are processed transiently to produce your results and are not retained on our servers. Anything you keep — history, saved recipes — lives on your device until you delete it or remove the app.
Children
Fridgit isn't directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your choices
Because we don't hold an account or personal profile for you, there's little of yours for us to look up. You control your on‑device data directly in the app, and you can manage or cancel a subscription anytime in your Apple ID settings. Questions about your privacy? Email us — see below.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
